As an Actuarial Risk Scientist you will be dedicated to the development and maintenance of Loadsures proprietary pricing models and the structure of the data sets that support them. The role will support a variety of actuarial tasks, which could include reserving and loss curves, regulatory and compliance reporting, business intelligence and sales support for the overall insurance and finance department. You will be highly organised, data-driven and comfortable building relationships and working with all levels of the firm. This position requires a self-driven, high-energy, professional who’s passionate about disrupting an industry and wants to be rewarded for their performance and contributions.

Key responsibilities;

• Continue development and maintenance of Loadsure actuarial pricing models. Conducting research for impactful data sets and opportunities to improve the quality of work. Conduct exercises on mirror pricing against the portfolio to determine the financial impact of changes;
• Raw Data validation of claims, shipments and premiums.
• Liaising with claims, finance, compliance and engineering etc on matters affecting or related to accounts within the portfolio;
• Help maintain team standards through supporting other members in achieving their service/quality levels and targets as required;
• Provided accurate information and reports to the senior management team and underwriters;
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement that focuses on developing processes and systems, and enhancing the service provided to all stakeholders;
• Maintain a strong controls and governance focus around all aspects of models, processes, reporting and analysis;
• Other duties as assigned by your manager;

Skills and qualifications;

ESSENTIAL

• Strong academic background in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics or Statistics;
• Discipline and experience in data analytics and actuarial work in the insurance industry;
• Proven administrative experience;
• Strong numeracy skills;
• Excellent IT Skills (particularly Excel & Google Suite) as well as coding skills (SQL, VBA, Python)
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Strong communication skills
• Comfortable dealing with internal and external senior representatives
• Eagerness and willingness to learn
• Experience of working in an actuarial reporting team, as an analyst or student actuary
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Self-starter and takes initiative
• Effective listening, strong verbal and written communications skills (including grammar)
• Must have outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, rapidly changing technical environment

DESIRABLE

• Experience of reporting procedures, processes and operating controls for a robust delivery of reliable and accurate financial reporting to auditable standards.
• General Insurance experience in either pricing, reserving & capital
